The partners of PBWS Architects announce that Fred Wesley has retired from the firm, but will remain active as Partner Emeritus.

Fred has been a pivotal leader of the firm for 45 years, establishing and upholding its core values and seeing it through changes in the economy without compromising on services or staffing.

Joining PBWS in 1971, Fred was still an architecture student at USC. He became a full-time employee upon his graduation in 1974.

He worked on one of the firm's construction sites as an apprentice carpenter, and quickly became involved in the firm's design-build practice. An interest in understanding the entire design and construction process led Fred to an increasing role in management, ultimately resulting in his service as Managing Principal from 1993 through 2014.

Fred was President of the AIA Pasadena & Foothill Chapter in 2003, has served on the Sierra Madre Planning Commission, and is past Board Chair of the Frostig Center in Pasadena.
