Harlan Pedersen, a graduate of the USC School of Architecture, opened a small practice in Eagle Rock, California in the late 1950s. Harlan and his partners had a shared vision of quality design, took a pragmatic, hands-on approach to construction, and stressed excellence in client service. As his practice grew and thrived, Harlan became acquainted with Delmer Beckhart, whose firm Harrison Beckhart and Mill had a strong history of civic and educational facilities design. Harlan and Del joined forces with two engineering consultants to pursue larger commissions together. The success of this collaborative led to the formation of PBWS Architects.
Today, partners Barton Anderson, Wade Frazier, and Kirstyn Bonneau, Partner Emeritus Fred Wesley and Gregory Sun, and the entire PBWS team, carry on the legacy of design excellence and personalized service established by Harlan and Del over 60 years ago.
