New Campus

Sierra Madre, California

PBWS completed design and construction administration services for a new middle school campus for 550 students in grades 6-8. It replaced an outmoded facility built in the 1940s as an elementary school for a much smaller student population. The facility includes a two-story classroom building, a multipurpose building, a gymnasium, locker rooms, a music room, wet and dry science labs, a library/media center, a computer lab, food service, and administrative and counseling offices totaling 76,000 square feet.

This project involved extensive interaction with city leaders, parents, neighbors and others. Several public meetings were conducted to gain consensus and arrive at a design solution that responds to its residential context and provides opportunities for students as well as members of the surrounding community.
