Early Childhood Education and Care Center Feasibility Study
PBWS Architects conducted a Feasibility Study for this new facility at CSU Channel Islands (CSUCI) to provide high quality, affordable childcare services for students and faculty, with 25% of capacity devoted to the children of farmworkers in the local area. The Center will be constructed in phases, and will ultimately accommodate 200-300 children between the ages of 18 months and 5 years. A teaching and learning laboratory for students and faculty will also be included. This laboratory will include lecture classrooms for 336 to 448 students along with faculty offices. The unique community-collaborative approach and innovative educational program provides a model for other universities and communities across the state for addressing the critical need for increased access to affordable childcare and early childhood education programs, especially for student and farmworker parents.
